How to Join a Competitive Roster

Our club offers competitive rosters for any registered student at the University of Northern Iowa. We have zero membership fees and will cover the cost of the league you will play in! Here is our quick guide for joining a competitive roster:

  • Join the Discord!
    • The first step to becoming a competitive player is joining Discord. This is where all of the club's communication happens. It is necessary to have a Discord account to communicate with your teammates and coaches.
Join the discord with this link:

Please also go to the role-select channel and choose the games you're interested in!
  • Look for sign-ups!
    • Sign-ups open up at the beginning of each semester. Look at our announcement channel for a Google form you can fill out! Sign-ups are usually due by the second week of classes.
  • How do I get put on a roster?
    • From the information you provide at sign-ups, we will assign each player a role to be a part of the competitive team. This will get you in contact with other interested players, current roster members, and the coaches!
    • Most of the time, players get assigned to a team based on their competitive ranks, but we will also hold tryouts if needed.
  • I'm on a team. What about now?
    • Once you have gotten the proper Discord roles, we will need you to complete the proper sign-up forms for the league you will be playing in also. Members of PES and your competitive team sign-up for their respective league!
  • What if I missed sign-ups?
    • Don't worry! You can still be a part of the roster, but you can't compete in official games if you miss sign-ups. You can still communicate with the active roster and even practice with them! Our advice is to stick around and wait for next time. Use this off-time to practice your craft!
    • If your team makes the playoffs, you can be added to the roster then as well! Otherwise, plan ahead for next semester.
  • How often do we compete?
    • The regular season lasts for 7 total weeks. Each week, your roster will play one official match. If your team makes the playoffs, you could play for a total of 10 games in the span of 10 weeks.
    • We also require that our active competitive rosters host a practice once per week as well.
    • Matches are always scheduled for the week day and are never played on weekends unless they're rescheduled to.
    • Afraid you can't make gameday? Our leagues will always allow a reschedule as long as you plan ahead!
